A few words from Mikey: hanging up the bass

Hey friends of the band,

Mike here (lead bass). It is with great sadness that i must inform you that the 19th of December at the Annandale will be my last gig with Made in Japan.

As you could imagine, it was a pretty hard decision to make. Over the past 3 years we’ve been through a lot, from playing to a few mates at the Vic on the Park hotel to under the big top at lunar park and everywhere in between.

So many memories like playing to no one in a restaurant in Melbourne, supporting Spit Syndicate at Good Vibes, the PA screwing up at the Hopetoun and almost getting kicked out of the band for prank calling Jono, to name a few.

Through it all though i always felt like we were apart of something bigger, i’ve had the chance to meet so many great people and make so many awesome friends. To be apart of the crew, mixing genres like we mix drinks. Special thanks to my heroes Joyride, Horrorshow and the SS.

Don’t worry you’ll still be seeing me around, next year i’ll be focusing on my radio stuff and will be able to see so many more live and local gigs which i’m really excited about.

I can’t tell you how much i love Australian, in particular Sydney music and i want to give all the time i can to it. If you’re not a fan of our breakfast show with my best mate Willis please check it out here, http://www.facebook.com/#/pages/Mike-and-Willis/156105478154?ref=ts

We play all australian, mostly Sydney music and talk a lot of trash in between. This show is on 2RRR 88.5 on Monday’s and highlights are repeated at 4. You can also tune into my straight music/arts show on 2SER 107.3 on Tues at 9.30 – midday.

I will still remain tight friends with the Coon, Jon and Tom. They will be getting someone new in and will go onto bigger and better things.

Please be nice to the new guy but feel free to make jokes at him, here’s some i recommend: “hey mike you shaved your side burns” or “Mike, you look different, did you get a haircut?”

Anyways, please come along to my last gig on sat the 19th Dec at my favourite venue where i’ll sadly be hanging up the bass I never owned for good.

Catch you soon!

Fast love,
Mike

ps. much thanks to cooney who lent me his bass for 3 years.
