Some things you should know about Made in Japan…

• They were formed in mid-2008 by old school mates James Cooney and Jono Graham.

• James is their Vocalist and Drummer, Jono and Tom both play guitar.

• Some of their influences are Bloc Party, Smashing Pumpkins, The Horrors, My Bloody Valentine, and Foals.

• Drum Media says “Think all the hallmarks of the best latter-day Britpop – most notably the drum and bass-driven precision of Bloc Party, and perhaps the jagged inventiveness of the Futureheads – tempered with the energy of youth.”

• They’ve played all the well-known Sydney haunts multiple times including the Annandale, the Hopetoun, Spectrum, Oxford Arts Factory and World Bar.

• Music Feeds says “it’s only a matter of time before it’s featured on mp3 players across the country. Big call? Maybe. But one this reviewer is willing to stand by.”

• They independently released their debut EP in February 2009. The launch at the Annandale Hotel sold out in the first 20 minutes.

• They’ve supported Sparkadia, Bluejuice, End of Fashion and Kram to name a few.

• Faster Louder says “these guys are a perfect example of the undiscovered talent that is hidden in music venues around Sydney. Hunt them down and check them out.”

• They’re debut album is due for release early next year.
